This was a memorable trip to Bandung, Indonesia in February 2010.
We stayed at Orange Homes, Bandung and started our first day's with
the journey up to Tangkuban Perahu, an active volcano.
ADVICE: Never go visiting Bandung on a weekend or a local holiday
season coz you will be caught in traffic jams all over town
and even when going up the mountain.
Having our lunch on the way down from the mountain
at Restaurant Sapulidi. It was delightful experience sitting
admist padi fields and beautiful landscapped gardens.
Lunch was Sundanese cuisine...very dry...no curries...
so it was hard to eat for the usual curry lovers.
Outside Rumah Mode after during a spate of
successful shopping....see those bags....ehmmm
Night shopping at Cascade shopping complex....too high-end
for me....but loved the layout of this place. Bandung has great
places to shop if u are brand crazy...price is cheap compared to
home. Their shopping centres are designed from former
colonial buildings which adds to the great ambience one
gets when moving around.
Dinner was at a Nasi Padang Restaurant, Simpang Raya.
We cleared up all the food available as there was nothing
much left looking at the time we arrived at 9pm
....just enough for us....but look how hungry we
were...cleared our plates clean too. But food was
delicious especially the sambal.
Our accomodation at Orange Homes. Clean and comfortable rooms.
Suitable for budget travellers like us and it comes with free breakfast
At the Pasar Besar in Bandung. You can actually do all your
shopping here. It has about seven/eight levels and each level
offers numerous shops selling one type of merchandise.
You need to bargain to at least half of the price mentioned.
At the Jeans centre where we got branded jeans for a
good bargain which comes with free tailoring adjustments.
Lunch again was at Simpang Raya Nasi Padang
Restaurant.
Dinner at Sundanese Restaurant
Open air rest rooms at Restaurant Sapulidi
